Content Description

This collection consists of two hand-coloured engravings showing scenes from the Arabian Nights' Entertainments: "Morigiani discovering the Arabian robber through his disguise stabs him while dancing before her Master"; "The beautiful stranger poisoned by her sister, from the story told by the Jewish Doctor". Artist: Henry William Bunbury; engravers: Laurence J Cossé and Thomas Ryder.

This set of engravings were produced to circulate independently, and not as book illustrations.

Related Materials

The watercolour on which "The beautiful stranger..." is based is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum, dated ca 1785. Accession no. SD.187.
