Scope and Contents

The Annual Report and Accounts contains registration information, information on the helplines operated by the company, and lists of the Trustees (of the former Trust) and Directors (of the present company).

The report for 1995-1996 discusses the following: the creation of a development plan; the requirement for future accommodation and the options available; the importance of Switchboard highlighted by Gay Men's Health's Needs' Assessment; the receipt of hate mail and the investigation outcomes; and prioritising Lesbian Line's core duties and defining their role within LGLS.

The report for 1996-1997 discusses the following: the extension of the financial year due to the move to Limited Company status; LGLS's funding and the affects of local government reorganisation; Switchboard's availability and the need for more volunteers, phone lines, and training to meet demand; Switchboard's role in Safer Sex education; and Lesbian Line's continuing priorities.

Statistics are provided to outline the following: the changing pattern of calls received by LGLS and Lesbian Line; the introduction of safer sex; and Switchboard's availability. Reports are also provided on face to face befriending work, training, advertising and publicity, fundraising, and finances.

Statements of accounts are included for 1995-1997, as well as an Accountant's Report to the members on the Unaudited Accounts of Lothian Gay and Lesbian Switchboard Ltd for a six month period ending 31/03/1997.
