Scope and Contents
On the publication of a biography of Brodrick Haldane, once decribed by Cecil Beaton as the founder of modern society photography. From his early childhood Haldane had been fascinated by society magazines and in observing others, and left school with no qualifications. He relocated to London and began working as a photographer for magazines, eventually earning a reputation for excellence in the field and being highly sought after by the celebrities and stars of the period. Reference is made to his bisexuality, and lament that most of his photography is held in private hands and not on display.
