Papers of William Grant (c.1701-1764), Lord Prestongrange
Scope and Contents
The front of the volume contains 170 numbered pages titled 'Advices in law respecting ecclesiastical questions.' These are in the form of partially indexed letters written 15 August 1735 to 23 May 1746. The back of the volume contains a subject index to works by 17th century divines David Clarkson, John Flavel, William Gurnall and George Hopkins. This section is 171 pages, and is in a different hand to the front.
The pages between the two parts are mostly blank, apart from some pencil sketches of people and geometric shapes.
The front section has a pencil note of past ownership on folio (iii)v in a more modern hand. The back board has a small pencil note indicating that the volume was rebound in January 1984.
