Two notebooks relating to James Hadow, Principal of St Mary's College, St Andrews (c.1670-1747).
1. Correspondence between Principal Hadow and Mr Alex Hamilton, Minister of Airth, on the subject of the Gospel offer and collateral topics. Notebook is a quarter-bound quarto with soft, marbelled end boards. 159 numbered pages. Contains 5 letters, spanning 14 September 1710 to 28 January 1712.
2. Letters of Principal Hadow and Reverend Alexander Hamilton. Notebook is a quarter-bound quarto with hard, marbelled end boards. 215 numbered pages and 27 unnumbered pages, all of laid paper and possessing clear watermarks and chainlines. Contains copies of the same letters as MS HAD 1, with copies of a letter from Principal John Stirling to Alexander Hamilton (27 February 1714) and Hamilton's reply (12 April 1714).
