Each register entry includes the date of admission, the name of the patient, sex, age, whether pauper or private, place of abode, bodily condition, form of mental disorder and date of discharge. Not indexed.

Each entry gives the patient’s name, date of admission, initial diagnosis and progress and are cross referred to the registers at LHB47/1/1. The volumes are pre-printed from Vol.5. These are arranged in bundles by certification number. The certificate is in the form of a petition to the Sheriff to allow the admission of a patient, gives extensive patient details and two medical certificates.

Each register contains a daily statistical return giving the numbers of private, voluntary and pauper residents; their ability to work (including factors such as whether they are too ill, refusing to work etc); and the occupations of the pauper patients. Each day also has a blank page for a supplementary record and diary of occurrences.
