The song is composed of twenty-four lines. Scope and Contents Song entitled and beginning 'Mo ghaol, mo ghaol, mo ghaol fhein thu' collected from Ann Morrison née Ross, Rucaidh, Trumsgearridh N[orth] Uist [Knock Ruchgy, Trumaisgearraidh, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist]. The accompanying story states that the song was 'composed by his father's "banachaig nan gobhar" to the heir of Rararsaidh, who afterwards became his wife, and who made an excellent wife'.
