Edinburgh, Scotland

This has been described as an idealised depiction of Edinburgh. The medieval appearance of the town shows only a small southern suburb - showing the Pleasance, but not Blackfriars monastery, destroyed 16th century. 'Survey of Edinburgh' number pencilled on back, 112/18. Originally appeared in Nathaniel Spencer's (aka Robert Sanders) 'The Complete English Traveller' (c. 1773).

A series of a random selection of prints, many appear to be duplicate copies of other images, relating to Edinburgh, Scotland and elsewhere which were added to the teaching collection at the Outlook Tower at some point after Patrick Geddes' death and before 1990. Some are marked and are therefore copyright of W. Reid; Balmain Photographers, Edinburgh; and The Scotsman - some of these may belong in Coll-1167/C/2

10 sleeves containing approximately 220 35mm film negatives produced c 1985 from the original glass plate negatives created from Patrick Geddes' photographic survey of Edinburgh (See Coll-1167/B/26).

8 folders containing sheets of contact prints relating to the corresponding series of glass plate negatives (Coll-1167/B/26) and photographic prints (Coll-1167/B/27) relating to Geddes' photographic survey of Edinburgh. Very little is know about the provenance of these contact prints but possibly produced at the same time as John McGovern's set of photographic prints in the 1980s. Previously uncatalogued. Incomplete.
