This shows Playhouse and Old Playhouse Close entrances. The Newspaper billboard on the right of the picture reads "News of the World. Crippe Verdict Due Today." The verdict on the the murderer of H.H. Crippen was given on 21st October 1910, hence we have an exact date of this photograph. Old Playhouse Close has been much restored. South side of Canongate. Handwritten title by R. Dykes.

A series of a random selection of prints, many appear to be duplicate copies of other images, relating to Edinburgh, Scotland and elsewhere which were added to the teaching collection at the Outlook Tower at some point after Patrick Geddes' death and before 1990. Some are marked and are therefore copyright of W. Reid; Balmain Photographers, Edinburgh; and The Scotsman - some of these may belong in Coll-1167/C/2

Original architectural watercolour drawing of 453-461 Lawnmarket, Edinburgh. Directly on card, by Henbest Capper for Patrick Geddes, then in charge of the Town Council Improvement Scheme of the Lawnmarket. The building was restored as a student Hall of residence for women students.
