Content Description This is an album used as a sketchbook and a common-place book from the mid-19th century to the 1930s, created and compiled by two Scottish women of the same family. The first contributor is Caroline Elizabeth Houstoun (1840-1926), who filled the volume with well-spaced studies of landscapes and buildings in coloured pencil, pastel, and some watercolour. The transcription is attributed to Alexander Mitchell in 1890 in preparation for the publication of 'Inverness kirk-session records 1661-1800.' Inverness, 1902. MS INV 2 has a leaf from a publication in Gaelic laid in between pages 866-867.
