Cure for cattle, September 1872
Cure for cattle possibly collected from John Cameron, Borve [Borgh, Barraigh/Isle of Barra] in which water has to be taken from a stream which forms a march or [nach tra'adh] and at sunset or sunrise the person must go 'without an eye of man or woman' and place silver in the dish of water and sprinkle it three times on the cow. Custom for repelling the neas [stoat] from calves, 7 August 1886
Custom probably collected from Duncan Cameron, police officer, Tobar Mhoire/Tobermory, Muile/Isle of Mull, for repelling the neas [stoat] from calves stating that as stoats hate the smell of burning, people burn the tail and leg of a new calf or old leather.

Customs written down by John Ewen MacRury, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula relating to cattle herding, describing how when herding cattle to or from the house a number of cattle were allowed to follow behind the herder to avoid the evil eye.
