Lyell's series of Scientific notebooks begins 1825 and continues until November 1874, just a few months before his death in February 1875. Lyell used these notebooks to record his fieldwork, travels, companions, queries, lists of memorandums, correspondance and publishing work.

The material consists of notes entitled, 'Some aspects of drug resistance in micro-organisms'. These are paginated 1-9 but with further notes on reverse of pages.
