Black and white cross-section of a brain [2], August 1968

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/27
Scope and Contents

Anterior coronal view of the blood supply to the anterior parts of the brain. The aneurysm depicted has ruptured resulting in a basal subarachnoid haemorrhage, and stretching the perforating arteries. Accumulation of blood has caused a mass effect.

Dates: August 1968

C. Temporal Contusion without Oedema, c.1952

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/7
Scope and Contents

Double-sided drawing showing two coronal sections of a brain suffering from an injury, depicting how the posterior circulation of the brain can become disrupted. Posterior coronal section of the head depicting a right-sided temporal contusion without oedema. The blood supply is undisrupted as there has been no mass effect. Labelled 'C. Temporal contusion without oedema'. One side showing additions in pencil.

Dates: c.1952

Coloured cross-section of brain, 2, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/15
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Posterior coronal view of the blood supply to the posterior parts of the brain. The basilar artery is shown, travelling up the posterior brainstem, before giving off the superior cerebral artery, and then bifurcating into the posterior cerebral arteries. Note: annotated on the back of the drawing is "Prof. Dott, Blood Supply, post., coronal view."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 3, May 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/16
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Anterior coronal view of the disrupted blood supply to the anterior parts of the brain due to a left unilateral haematoma causing central displacement. Numbered 2 and titled "Cerebr. Displac. Chr. Expand. Art."

Dates: May 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 4, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/17
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Posterior coronal view of the disrupted blood supply to the posterior parts of the brain due to a right unilateral haematoma causing central displacement and right cerebellar tentorial herniation through the foramen magnum. Numbered 4 and titled "Cerebr. Displac. Chr. Expand. Post."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 5, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/18
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing treatment. Posterior coronal view blood supply to the posterior parts of the brain. Unilateral haematoma has been drained via burr hole and replacement fluid injected into the spinal canal to correct central displacement of the brain and tentorial herniation. Numbered 5 and titled "Cerebr. Displac. Tent. Disimpact."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 6, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/19
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Anterior coronal view of disrupted blood supply to the anterior parts of the brain due to ruptured aneurysm in the anterior circle of Willis (at the division of the internal carotid), resulting in a basal subarachnoid haematoma and stretching of the perforating arteries. Numbered and titled "Basal subarach haem (a) - Stretch perf. arts."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 7, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/20
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Anterior coronal view of disrupted blood supply to the anterior parts of the brain due to past basal subarachnoid haematoma. Even after resolution of haematoma, perforating arteries and the brain tissue they supply are damaged. Numbered 7 and titled "Basal subarach haem (b) - continued spasm perf. arts."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 8, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/21
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing imapct with wall. Anterior coronal view of the brain: demonstration of how impact to the left lateral side of the cranium disrupts the blood supply to the anterior brain via damaging the perforating arteries. Numbered 8 and titled "Dym. H.I. Ant (a) Impact."

Dates: June 1960

Coloured cross-section of brain, 9, June 1960

 Item
Identifier: LHB1/61A/94/1/22
Scope and Contents

Carbon dust drawing, with colour, of a cross-section of brain showing injury. Posterior coronal view of the brain: demonstration of how impact to the right lateral side of the cranium disrupts the blood supply to the posterior brain (via damage to the perforating arteries) and causes tentorial herniation on the side of the impact. Numbered 9 and titled "Dyn. H.I. Post. (a) Impact". Includes wall as cause of injury.

Dates: June 1960
