Fragment of a verse collected from Angus MacAulay, aged 82, An Cnoc/Knock, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis beginning 'Cuim tug mi cion don fhear ud, Do Mhurchaidh mear mac MhicLeod'. The verse is composed of six lines. The accompanying note reads 'Stra[th] Leoid bet[ween] Ullapool &Catao[bh]' [possibly Bealach Beinn Leòid, Ulapul, both Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty and Cataibh/Sutherland].

Drawings and notes on geology, largely from the north of Scotland, including Peterhead, Ullapool, Sutherland, Assynt, and Lochs Torridon, Maree and Broom. References are made to the granite at Aberdeen, the sand at Forres and Banffshire limestone, amongst other things.

Lyell starts in England and travels through Cambridgeshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria, with special attention to the Lake District. Story about the MacLeods at Eòropaidh/Eoropie, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis, which states that the iron rampart was taken down from their house by Torcal Conanach [Torcail MacLeod] who lived at [Ullapool [Ullapul/Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty]], and that Torcal Oighre [Torcail MacLeod half-brother to the previous Torcail] lived with his father.
