Story about a child abducted by an eagle collected from Donald Currie, crofter, Baile Meadhanach/Ballymeanach, Ìle/Islay, which tells how a Colbhasa/Colonsay woman left her child rolled in a blanket on the ground while at the sheiling, but it was lifted by an eagle which carried it to Islay and laid it down on a hillock, which Donald's grandfather was hiding behind. The story concludes that 'The child screamed.'

Story about the 'daughter of the caistealan' who was killed by her father for going to visit her lover while she was crossing Doirlinn [Bernera Island, Lios Mòr/Lismore]. She was buried in Cladh a' Ghleann and Carmichael notes that there is another graveyard at Pillebhudh [Pollbhuidhe] 'on a beaut[i]ful knoll'.

Story about a deformed calf which tells how Captain Macasgail [MacAskill] at Calgary [Calgarraidh, Am Muile/Isle of Mull] would not allow a calf born with two heads and eight legs to be killed and so had it buried alive. The raoic [bellow] which the calf made echoed around the glen and frightened people.

Donald tells how John Maconail, W Eilestra [Aolstradh an Iar/Wester Ellister] saw a blue hawk [peregrine falcon] chasing rock pigeons at Eileastra [Port Ellister], striking one, which fell to the ground, John picked it up and it flew high again, the hawk struck another pigeon which fell straight down, the hawk pursuing it with 'treme[ndous] swirl making straight upon her he jerked a little...

Story about a herd sent away by a baillie to Duntanachan, 1884

Story about a herd who was sent away by 'Baile na Cille' [baillie] from Cill to Duntannachain [Duntanachan, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire], his possessions being put into creels and not carts. The baillie's man told him that the herd had said that no matter what he would choose to return, 'Gad chi mi Mhaol o'ar...Bi mo raghin bhi tilleadh', and on hearing this the baillie told his man to go and bring the herd home.

Story about a man calling for the Baron [Bachuil] on his death-bed collected from Donald MacGregor, Baile Garbh/Bailegarve, Lios Mòr/Lismore. The man's wife sent for the Baron but despatched another messenger afterwards saying that he need not come after all. The man cried 'O am Baron am Baron. Tha ghaoil bha gaoil agads air a bheir[e]adh riabh,' and then he died.

Story about a man swallowed up by the ground on Bearnaray, September 1870

Story telling how a man who was ploughing with two horses on 'isle of Bearnaray' [Bernera Isle, Earra Ghàidheal/Argyllshire] was cursing when he and his horses were 'swall[ow]ed up by the opening of the earth. The hole is pointed out still'. Also noted is that there is a carn at the end of Teampall.

Scope and Contents Story about a snake which tells how Donald [Currie], the grandfather of 'Fear Bhollsa na h-Uamh Moire' [Uamh Mhòr, Bolsa, Ìle/ Islay] knew that something was wrong with his cows' milk when he saw a serpent coiled on a hillock at the sheiling. The snake was the biggest he'd seen being about nine feet in length. Donald found two bullets in his gun and shot it dead. The story states that seven score [140] snakes were killed [on the island] the previous year [1876] and nine score [180] the year...
