Scope and Contents

Lateral view of the right hemisphere; a craniotomy has been performed to expose the brain around the central sulcus. Series of three illustrations (A, B and C) depicting carotid artery + cavernous A.V (arteriovenous) fistula. A) shows an opening above the carotid in the neck and an opening in the skull (frontal craniotomy) – the frontal lobe is retracted to allow visualisation of the AV fistula in the cavernous sinus. Drawings B and C show correction of the fistula via ligature.
