Biography
Balthazar Rennel became counselor and auditor of the Chamber of Accounts of Lorraine in 1574, replacing his father in that role. In 1594, he was part of the city council of Nancy, was appointed Councilor of State in 1606 and President of the House of Accounts of Lorraine from 1613-1633, when he resigned his office of president in favor of his grandson Claude Voillot. Balthazar married March 7, 1576 Barbe de Lescut, daughter of Jean de Lescut and Barbe Le Clerc. They had 14 children, 10 of whom died in infancy

Book of Hours, use of Toul. It is of French origin (Toul) and is from the 15th-16th century, but based on external evidence is probably from after 1499. Inserted into the first border there is a coat of arms of Anne of Brittany, Queen of France. She married Charles VIII of France in 1491 and later his successor, Louis XII in 1499.
