Song entitled 'Laoi Dhuill Liosadair' and accompanying story, 16 June 1876
Scope and Contents
Song entitled 'Laoi Dhuill Liosadair' [Laoidh Dùghaill Liosadair] collected from Cairistina nighean Duill (Nic Aonais) [Christine MacInnes] Creag-goiridh Beinnafaothla [Creag Ghoraidh/Creagorry, Beinn na Faoghla/Benbecula] beginning 'Cluinn a dhuine bith na d fhaicil, Mu n tuit cadal ort na dusal'. The accompanying story states that the hymn was composed by Dughal Liosadair, who lived in Skye [An t-Eilean Sgitheanach] after he had fallen into a long trance. There is a single annotation to the text in pencil. There are three verses to the song although a '4' has been written to indicate a fourth verse. This suggests that the song is incomplete.
