Scope and Contents
Song entitled 'Cailleachann Fhinn' beginning 'Cha 'n i chailleach sin (1) na chailleach sin (2)' collected from Catrina Nic an Toisich [Catherine MacIntosh] bocag [pauper], Staoligearry, South Uist [Stadhlaigearraidh/Stilligarry, Uibhist a Deas] on 20 May 1875, and accompanying note which states that the song is about Fionn's twelve women and each one has a verse. Carmichael also states that 'The meaning of this is not very clear and I omitted to get explanations'. There are a few subtle additions to the text.
