List of proverbs, c1873
Scope and Contents
List of proverbs written in ink and annotated in pencil. A note on folio 82v pertains to this substantial list and reads 'All the preceding sent to Sheriff Nicolson Kirkcudbright 2 Sept[ember] 1873 A[lexander]. A[rchibald]. C[armichael].'. Two notes appear on folio 91v and 92r written in pencil, in the opposite direction to the rest of the text, unconnected with the proverbs. They are as follows: ' [-] Bhothigh = Banks fishing bank' and 'Miss Rose - Robert Armstrong Photo[grapher] 63 Princes St Edin[bur]g[h]'.
