Song collected from Anna nic a Phi [Anna MacPhie or MacPhee], daughter of Angus son of old Donald MacPhie, aged 22 years, Carnan [Càrnan, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] beginning 'Nail i bho ho i, thoir liom gin a hi, Nail i bho ho, Ghrian so g' eiridh' [Tàladh Dhòmhnaill Ghuirm or Donald Gorm's Lullaby]. The song is composed of seventy-three lines and contains a number of amendments or annotations. The accompanying story tells how Carmichael got an 'ord bhairneach' from Anna's father, which he had found among old ruins. The text has been scored through in ink and written transversely across the first folio is 'B[ook] 2 P[age] [-] Trans[cribed] June 16 15 1869 A[lexander] A[rchibald] C[armichael]'.
