De institutis coenobiorum, by John Cassian, early 14th century

MS 144/ff. 1r-45v contains one of the seminal works by early Christian theologian, monk, and writer, John Cassian. Two works are considered to have been written by Cassian, one entitled De institutis coenobiorum, contained on these first 45 folios of MS 144. All twelve short books of this text appear in this manuscript copy.
The prologue to Cassian's twelve books in the 'De institutis coenobiorum' begins on f. 1r with the words Veteris testamenti narrat hystoria, and ends on f. 1v with ...impari facultate. Explicit prefatio.
The text of Liber i begins on f. 1v, with De institutis ac regulis monasteriorum. Liber ii begins on f. 3v, Liber iii on f. 7r, Liber iv on f. 9v, Liber v on f.16r, Liber vi begins f. 23v, Liber vii, on f. 26r, Liber viii, f. 30r, Liber ix, on f. 33v, Liber x: the end of Liber ix and beginning of Liber x are missing. Liber xi begins on f. 38r, and Liber xii on f. 40r.
The text ends with the completion of Liber xii on f. 45v, with the words ...in veritate credamus.
