Commentary of the Song of Songs by Honorius of Autun, 15th century

 part
Identifier: MS 99/ff. 136r-151r

Contents

This part of the manuscript contains a commentary on the Song of Songs. The scribe identifies it as Prologus Honorii Pape super Cantica Canticorum (Prologue to the Song of Songs by Pope Honorius). However, the text seems to be a commentary of the Song of Songs written by Honorius of Autun, aslo known as Honorius Augustodunensis (c. 1080–1154?), not the homonymous Pope but a popular theologian and prolific writer of the time.

The text starts on f. 136r with the following words: Cantica canticorum dicunt. And ends on f. 151r with the following words: Ecclesia militans et triumphans pro eodem ponitur, etc. etc. Explicit prologus Honorii Pape super cantica et questiones bonas et utiles per Mag. Joh. etc..
