Sermones super Cantica Canticorum [incomplete] by Bernard of Clairvaux, 15th century
Contents
Throughout the manuscript, written in the margins and blank spaces, there are extracts of Sermones super Cantica Canticorum by Bernard of Clairvaux (1090-1153), an influential and prolific French abbot of the Cistercian Order. This was one of his most famous works. The text offers a sermon/commentary for each verse of the Song of Songs. Bernard died before finishing it, but other Cistercian abbots later finished his work.
