Transcriptions and moderns from the Fernaig Manuscript, Late 19th or early 20th century
Scope and Contents
This appears to be a transcription, perhaps in preparation for a text book or lecture. It is not clear whether these transcriptions were prepared by Mackinnon himself. However, the transcriber has transcribed the manuscript into contemporary Scottish Gaelic orthography, while the original manuscript was written in a unique orthography, perhaps invented by the scribe, and based on English orthrography. The original manuscript contained verses, including religious verses. Much of the contents are not considered to be MacRath's own work, although the manuscript does contain some of his work.
The original manuscript is contained in two books, currently held at the University of Glasgow. http://special.lib.gla.ac.uk/manuscripts/search/detaild.cfm?DID=63376.
