Copy of a letter in Latin from John, lord of the Isles, to Richard II referring to his friendship with the late Edward III, and expressing the hope that, in spite of the danger of war between the two kingdoms, the friendly relationship between their respective territories may continue; also introducing John’s clerk James (Jacobus).

Date: 3 September [before 1387].

Place: 'Colwansay' (Colonsay). Subject: "de amicicia continuanda"; the late Edward III; trade; clerk James.
