Scope and Contents

Copy of a letter in Latin from the cardinal of Pamplona [probably Pierre de Monterucco] to an English king [probably Edward III] referring to Aquitaine, to the king's eldest son [probably Edward of Woodstock, the Black Prince] and to a dispute between 'Lodewicus de Mallavalle' [possibly Louis of Male, i.e. Louis II of Flanders] and to the writer’s brother, Stephen de Monturuco, and his wife Margaret.

Date: 22 March [after 1356].

Place: Avignon. Subject matters: Edward of Woodstock, Prince of Wales and Aquitaine; court case between the cardinal's nephew, Estève de Monteruc, and his wife, Marguerite de Meauce, against Louis de Malvale, knight, regarding the Castle of Genouillac.
