Prayers to be recited after Compline, followed by an excerpt from Saint Bonaventure, early 16th century
Contents
The prayers are preceded by a long rubric which exhorts to perform a spiritual self-examination after reciting the Compline, i.e. the last of the hours in which the faithful was requested to pray: Post completorium diligenter examina conscientiam tuam qualiter per diem te habuisti et singulas cogitaciones locuciones et operaciones tuas ad memoriam revoca ut videre valeas quantum profecisti aut defecisti in spirituali vita et hanc examinacionem verte te ad divinam clemenciam et lege unum de septem psalmis.
The prayers begin on f. 97v with the words Omnipotens eterne Deus quitquit in hac die cogitando and end on f. 99v with in meditacione ad sapienciam perficientem et hoc in contemplacione.
