Stimulus Amoris beati Bernardi by Eckbert of Schönau
Scope and Contents
This section contains 'Stimulus Amoris beati Bernardi', 'The Pricking of Love by Blessed Bernard'. This text has falsely been attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux and Anselm of Canterbury, but is in reality a treaty on Christ's Passion written by Eckbert of Schönau (d 1184). It starts with the words 'Jhesum Nazarenum a judeis innocenter condempnatum', and ends with 'honor et imperium in sec. sec. Amen. Explicit stimulus amoris finitus anno incarnacionis domini mocccoxliiiio feria tertia post Judica.'
