Biographical / Historical
The Board was established following an act passed on 18 August 1882 to 'establish a fishery board for Scotland'. The Board consisted of the sheriffs of three sheriffdoms and six members, who 'shall hold office for five years, and may be reappointed.' Ewart acted as scientific adviser to the Board.
