Scope and Contents

A combintation of letters, reports, notices and cuttings relating to visits to vivisection laboratories carried out by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection.

Records in this file include;

A leaflet, published by the SSPV, titled "An Animal Lover Visits Vivisectional Laboratories" A page from Oral Answers, 24th January 1974, about visits to laboratories. "Additional Notes on (Visits to Edinburgh and Glasgow Laboratories) For the Committee on Experiments on Animals", written by Harvey Metcalfe for the SSPV. Correspondence and an article about a dog held by the Royal Maternity and Womens' Hospital, Glasgow, 1950-1953 "The British Cruelty to Animals Act of 1876: some of its effects in everyday animal-laboratory practice", by Harvey Metcalfe A letters from William Bain from the University of Edinburgh, Department of Physiology, and others, to Harvey Metcalfe about inaccuracies in a report about a visit to the laboratories in the Physiology department, 1932.
