Scope and Contents

Documents relating to the campaign work carried out by the SSPV between 1914 and 1951 to bring an end to vivisection in the UK through Parliamentary work.

1. A series of letters and notes relating to MPs who support bringing an end to vivisection, 1947-1951 2. Notices released by the SSPV asking the public to find out if their Parliamentary candidates, standing for the General Election, are opposed to vivisection, 1951 3. Informtaion booklet "The General Election 1950, vivisection experiments on animals, to members and friends of the Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society. 4. A letter from the Scottish Tail Waggers' Club urging support of a bill to prohibit the use of dogs in vivisection, 1947 5. Notices from the Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society for the general elections in 1945 and 1935 6. The Scottish Tail-Waggers' Club support for the Vivisection on Dogs (Scotland) Bill, 1938[?], 1937 7. Notices and letters from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivivsection on the taxpayer and experiments on living animals, 1938 8. A membership form for the Dogs' Bill League, organised by the SSPV 9. SSPV approach to the General Election, 1935, 1929 and 1924 10. A notice from the SSPV stating their co-operation with the Animal Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society for the protection of higher animals, 1914.
