Scope and Contents

Correspondence relating to Kadalie's autobiography and Phiri's Life:

1. Anthony Sampson, The Observer, London, to George Shepperson, Edinburgh. Mr Sampson is interested to hear that the recipient is thinking of writing a book on Kadalie. Sends Mrs Kadalie's address. 8 November 1958.

2. George Shepperson introduces himself to Mrs Kadalie. He is considering writing a book about her husband and would like to see any old letters, diaries, memoranda, photographs that she may have. Asks Mrs Kadalie if he might call on her when he is in London. 12 November 1958.

3-5. Arranging a meeting. November - December 1958.

6. Fenner Brockway, House of Commons, to George Shepperson, Edinburgh. Asks George Shepperson if he would be prepared to see Kadalie's autobiography and give Mrs Kadalie his advice. 8 July 1959.

7. Mrs Kadalie will attend to certain requirements for the autobiography. In the meantime, she will collect material. 1 August 1959.

8. George Shepperson informs Mrs Kadalie that he has written to Gollanz, the publisher, regarding the autobiography. 2 November 1959.

9-10. Correspondence with Victor Gollanz relating to publication. 2 November 1959.
