Scope and Contents
2 copy plans (67cm x 103cm) by the North East Group of the Town Planning Division of London County Council's Architect's Department. The plans show 2 different layouts for the market place in Lansbury Neighbourhood (Neighbourhood no 9). There is also a small scale elevation by the market's designer Sir Frederick Ernest Gibberd. This was the part of London County Council Comprehensive Development Area no 2: Stepney and Poplar which became the subject of the "Live Architecture Exhibition" at the Festival of Britain, 1951. The first plan shows proposals for the area, which it calls Lansbury Market at 1/32" scale. The second shows a ground floor plan for completion of "Chrisp Street Market" at 1/500 scale.
