Main Point, at the west end of the West Port, looking into High Riggs. At one time, this was one of the most important junctions forming a point of entry into the city. There is still a public house at this corner. Handwritten title on the original envelope containing the corresponding glass plate negatives was written by R. Dykes.

Note also the figure of a man in the white jacket which appears in both photographs. No doubt he moved for this purpose; unfortunately this does not help to establish which picture was taken first.
