Scope and Contents The collection consists of twenty-six microfiche copies of letters. The first three (1910-1920) are letters written by Lawrence Hogg in Scotland before he went to India and the last two (1921-1923) are letters of Caroline M. Dixon before she married. Scope and Contents This collections consists of 17 letters from Dr Mary Edith Pechey-Phipson M.D. 1869, 1884-1892. Sixteen letters are to aunts (two or more), one of whom ("Aunt Garrie") was Mrs Wansbrough of Shrewton, Wiltshire. The first, dated Edinburgh 23 October 1869, speaks of her early medical studies and mentions Sophia Jex-Blake; the other fifteen letters (dated 1884-1892) were mostly written in India and touch on life and work in that country. Letters of Ralph Erskine

Scope and Contents The letter (E2010.18), placed and dated as Dunfermline 10 April 1741, refers to a letter from Whitefield written on the 'Minerva' 17 February. It refers too to Mr. Wilson 'in Perth who teacheth as our professor of divinity'. The letter lists previous communication between Erskine and Whitefield one of which (from Bohemia in Maryland) Erskine has 'received not'. The others mentioned are: a letter from Whitefield from Philadelphia on 8 November; and, one from Savannah on 16 January 1740....

The letters are largely those to Simpson from Thomas Chalmers, and Sir George Sinclair. There are also letters from the Earl of Morton and Lady Morton, the Duke of Buccleuch, the Duke of Richmond, the Earl of Rosebery, Lord Stanley, Baron Torphichen, and the Marquis of Tweeddale.
