"This woman is weak mentally, unfit for work, has bad eyes. Mother's pension of £2.8/- became inadequate when new scales came in in 1945. Nurse - this girl is cuckoo, a bit soft but can go messages. Dr confirms that this girl and her mother are highly strung and hysterical. Very dressy."

"This woman is rather hysterical and nervy, was very nervous during the war, draws attention to herself at meetings, has a very shrill artificial laugh which is always trilling out. Rather affected. Wears peculiar arty clothes and has a sort of 1920 hair do. Talked a lot of rubbish during the war - her husband had an awful time with her. Husband has been an excellent informant but is a bit of an old wife, fussy, looks like an indignant rabbit."
