Scope and Contents

A photographic print showing an image of a map of the "Forth and Lothians II". This map has also been previously been entitled "Edinburghshire II". It is assumed the 'shire' title was written on the original maps (images of which are shown in Coll-1167/B/27/23/13 and 14). The corresponding glass plate negatives had at some time been taken out of their original envelopes and inserted into new envelopes, with no inscriptions.

Scope and Contents Bristo Street is on the left and continued soutwards beyond the right of the picture (see Coll-1167/B/26/17/4 which shows the corner of the building on the right). This view is looking east along Marshall Stret (almost entirely demolished) to Nicolson Square and the Royal Bank of Scotland (1902) with the conically roofed tower beyond, still standing in 1989. The two projecting tenements (1765) in Nicolson Square are visible. Potterow double road now (1998) runs slightly west of them (nearer...

Some are marked and are therefore copyright of W. Reid; Balmain Photographers, Edinburgh; and The Scotsman - some of these may belong in Coll-1167/C/2
