Anti-Vivisection

A leaflet inviting people to a march for laboratory animals at a rally outside the University of Edinburgh's psychology and pharmacology departments on the 23rd April of an unspecified year. Organised by SSPV.

An article by M. Beddow Bayly on the suffering of monkeys being transported around the world for vivisection. In this case, attention is given to the death of 394 monkeys who died of suffocation between Delhi and New York. Published by the National Anti-Vivisection Society.

A pamphlet, published by the SSPV in 1955, titled "Medical Opinions Against Vivisection", within which are opinions of medical professionals against the use of animals in medical science. These opinions were collected for the use of the conference of British Anti-Vivisection Societies.

A booklet, published by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection, titled "Medical Opinions Against Vivisection". The booklet contains the opinions of those who work in medicine and are against the work of vivisection. It was published on an unknown date by Featherhall Press Ltd, Edinburgh, and was withdrawn 31st December 1980.

A pamphlet containing medical opinions on vivisection which date between 1858 - 1896. This leaflet was published by the National Anti-Vivisection Society, 92 Victoria Street, London.

This pamphlet was reprinted in booklet form at a later date, based upon the note on the first page.

"Medicine - the actual and the ideal", by H. Fergie Woods, looks at the homeopathic alternatives to medicine instead of vivisection. Pesidential address to the British Homeopathic Congress at the Connaught Rooms, London 1934. Issued by the Aniaml Defence and Anti-Vivisection Society.

A blank meeting invite from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection and the Scottish Anti-Vivisection Society. The meeting would take place in the Ballroom of the Grand Hotel, Glasgow, 10th March. Miss Christina Mathieson presided.

A bound volume containing meeting minutes from the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection between their first meeting on 21st December 1911 - when it was known as the Scottish Co-Operative Anti-Vivisection Society


The contents of the minutes contain details of what was discussed at each of their meetings and who was present.

"Members of the Theosophical Society and Vivisection", states the standing of the society being against the use of animals in medical experimentation. The publication includes quotations from various well-known individuals relating to nature and man. Written by M. Beddow Bayly.
