Anti-Vivisection

An article, written by Craig McGregor and Bill Hopkins, reprinted by the SSPV with permission of Oldham's Press Ltd "Today", 21st May 1960. The article concerns the welfare of animals being used for medical experiments relating to germ warfare.

"Slavery and Vivisection; a message for to-day", a pamphlet written by E. Westacott which uses parallels between the work of abolitionists, such as Benjamin Lundy and William Lloyd, and the work anti-vivisectionists should be doing.

A pamphlet distributed by the National Canine Defence League, No. 305, titled "Some Expressions of Medical Opinion on the Vivisection of Dogs".

The pamphlet contains opinions of people working in the medical field who oppose the use of dogs in animal experimentation.

One of the pamphlets is stamped with the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection.

An information leaflet, "Some Facts on Cancer Research", by E.W. Emery about alternative forms of cancer research (human cell tissue) which does not involve experimenting on animals. This leaflet was withdrawn from publication by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Vivisection on the 18th October 1989.

"Speciesism: The Ethics of Vivisection", is based on a paper, read at a meeting of medical students of the London Medical Group, 5th November 1974, by author and animal rights advocate Richard D. Ryder.

The pamphlet discusses issues around the pain inflicted on animals and why animals are used for experiments.

This pamphlet was withdrawn from publication April 1990

A transcript of a speech given by Harvey Metcalfe at the Annual General Meeting of the National Anti-Vivisection Society, 18th June, 1957 about the work of the anti-vivisection movement and its importance.

This pamphlet was withdrawn April 1975.
