Scope and Contents

This series contains material collected by volunteers to allow them to build their knowledge on issues affecting the LGBT+ community, and to provide them with contact details for relevant organisations in order to refer callers.

Scope and Contents Gay Scotland was an independent, bi-monthly or monthly magazine, published by the Scottish Homosexual Rights Group, who were later renamed Outright Scotland. It contained articles of interest to the LGBT+ community, as well as paid advertising and information on LGBT+ friendly social spaces and events. This series contains information resources providing an overview of the political and institutional LGBTQ+ landscape between 1981 and 2008.

It includes reports and publications from external institutions including the Scottish Government, health boards and charitable bodies exploring LGBTQ+ issues.

It also includes press cuttings and magazines covering issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

Topics discussed include: office equipment; the payment of VAT on rent; contents insurance; the Dunblane Conference; advertising; Lesbian Line; the Edinburgh Gay Switchboard (EGS) Conference 1990; and removing magazines such as Gay Times from office.
