The correspondence deals with Greenwood's experimental work, the establishing and furnishing of the Poultry Research Centre, staff and salary matters. Also present are two items of correspondence from the PRC to Greenwood's widow Josephine Greenwood (1984) concerning her late husband's biographical details.

The file contains: correspondence with the University of Edinburgh concerning the post of Chair of Animal Genetics, including an offer letter (December 1946); papers relating to salary, lectures and proposed arrangements for the Institute of Animal Genetics such as accommodation. Also present is correspondence from individuals including F.A.E Crew, James Ritchie and R.G White.

The material also contains a list of the books bequeathed to the Institute by Crew, and related correspondence, including two letters from Crew to Waddington about the bequest, and letters between the Institute and Crew's family about the eventual despatch of the books. There is also present a copy of Waddington's additional note on Crew's obituary which he sent to The Times.
