Notebook belonging to Alexander MacBain of Inverness. It contains newspaper cutting of articles, written by Alexander MacBain, entitled 'The Gaelic Language: A Historical Sketch', 'Celtic and Old Gaelic Literature' and 'Old Gaelic Saga and Ballad Literature'.

The handwritten notebook details 22 experiments on poultry, including adrenalin injections and ovary and testis grafts, covering the period 1925-1929. Also present are some photographic inserts. The spine of the book bears the inscription 'Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here.'

The notebook is only partially filled.

Notebook titled 'Inheritance - abstracts etc' and inscribed 'A.D Darbishire'. Contains handwritten notes, apparently from Darbishire's reading. From the inscriptions in the notebook, it can be dated from Darbishire's time as a Demonstrator in Comparative Anatomy at the University Museum, Oxford from late 1901-1902.

Accompanied by a note in an unknown hand reading 'Notes made by Arthur Darbishire on his readings in genetics at some time between 1902 and 1910'.
