This appears to be a notebook perhaps used for teaching and researching. It contains a list of words found in manuscripts, along with their modern Scottish Gaelic word, and sometimes a translation or explanation in English.

An article by Donald Mackinnon on the literature of the Columban Church has been removed from its original source and glued into this notebook. Throughout the notebook, there are occasional handwritten notes accompanying pages from the article.

This notebook contains multiple articles published by Mackinnon removed from their original sources, and glued onto the pages in this notebook. Most articles are about literature and manuscripts in Gaelic history. Some pages are accompanied by Mackinnon's handwritten notes.

Mackinnon appears to have compiled his own catalogue of Gaelic manuscripts contained in Advocates' Library in Edinburgh. This first part of the notebook contains his observations.
In the reverse and inverted side, Mackinnon has made notes in both English and Gaelic about authors and their work, who appear in medieval Gaelic manuscripts.

Notes on manuscripts by Mackinnon for undetermined purpose. The notes appear to have been divided into two sections: (I) Historical, genealogical, MacVuirish; and (II) Metaphysical, [indecipherable], medical, [indecipherable]. Some pages have excerpts and cuttings from newspapers attached.

Script or notes for a lecture on the subject of old Gaelic literature, including some descriptions of Ogham. This appears to have been a lecture address to students of Celtic at the University of Edinburgh.

This notebook contains an essay or description or account of the characters, Ossian and Fionn, especially through Macpherson's portraits, and with some comparison to the folkloric tradition in both Ireland and Scotland.
