Scope and Contents Charm beginning 'Paid[ear] Nomh aon' and accompanying note collected from William Dingwall, crofter, Strath [Srath, Geàrrloch/Gairloch, Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty]. The note states that the reciter keeps the thread in his mouth and he does not put knots in the thread as he does not believe in them adding 'He never did this to a brute beast - only to human beings'. Scope and Contents Charm entitled 'Eolas an t Sniamh' [Eòlas an t-Sniamh or Charm of the Sprain] collected from Fionaghal ni[ghean] Chaluim or MacLeod [Flora MacLeod], Baileshear [Baile Shear/Baleshare, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist]. The charm begins 'Chai C[riosd] amach is fhuair e snai nan each air an cuar ma seach' and is repeated three times while a linen thread is twisted, a knot put on one end first, then the middle and then put around the affected joint. Scope and Contents Charm entitled 'Sgucha Feithe' [Charm for Bursting Vein] collected from Alexander MacKenzie, Allt Griosan at Melvaig [Allt Grìsean/Aultgrishan and Mealabhaig, Ros is Cromba/Ross and Cromarty]. A note adds that there are three knots on the thread and each one is placed to the lips and that 'tolm' is the name for the thread put on the sgucha feithe. Scope and Contents Collection of 15 wrappers comprising silk threads in various colours. Housed in old paper folder with ties. The name of the producers are on the upper covers, and they state that the silk is produced by natural colours and washed in clear water.
