Charm entitled 'Eolas an t Sniamh', 7 April 1875
Scope and Contents
Charm entitled 'Eolas an t Sniamh' [Eòlas an t-Sniamh or Charm of the Sprain] collected from Fionaghal ni[ghean] Chaluim or MacLeod [Flora MacLeod], Baileshear [Baile Shear/Baleshare, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist]. The charm begins 'Chai C[riosd] amach is fhuair e snai nan each air an cuar ma seach' and is repeated three times while a linen thread is twisted, a knot put on one end first, then the middle and then put around the affected joint. Across the text is written in ink 'Transcribed into B[ook] III p[age] 175'.
