Note on Caisteal Bheagrum and accompanying diagrams, 27 March 1872
Scope and Contents
Note on Caisteal Bheagrum [Caisteal Bheagram, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] describing its dimensions and condition with accompanying diagrams including measurements. Notes that 'Earth taken from Cé on the N[orth] side opp[osite] to raise the isle so the place is a sgala.' He states that the last person to be born on Eilean Bheagram, about one hundred and forty years ago [c1732] was Catrina niean Aonais ic Ruari niean Fir Staonabrig [Staoinebrig/Stoneybridge], daughter of a daughter of Glenaldale [Glenaladale, Siorramachd Inbhir Nis/Inverness-shire]. Also notes 'Old Barbra says Clanranald lived here when at Ormacleit.' [Barbara MacPhie, Dreumasdal/Drimsdale and Ormaclete].
