Scope and Contents

Cure for the removal of an awn from a woman's ear in which a woman from Cnocantorrain [Cnoc an Torrain/Knockintorran, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist]. An awn has become lodged in her ear at winnowing and her ear has become inflamed. All attempts to remove the awn have failed but on asking An Dotair Bàn [Dr Alexander MacLeod] for help, he makes her take snuff while he holds her nostrils and eventually the awn comes out landing 'some five feet away'. Text has been scored through as if transcribed elsewhere.
