These folios in MS 139 contain the popular text from 13th-century Italian canon, Lawrence of Aquilegia, on specifics of letter writing. In his texts, of which the Practica was most popular and well known, Lawrence pioneered the phatic element of writing. The copy of the Practicacontained on ff. 56r-67v of MS 139 begins with the words Universis tabellionibus bononie amicis et dominis karissimis magister laurencius aquilegensis salutem, and ends on f. 67v with per censuram ecclesiasticam compellat. Explicit summa dictaminis.
