Content Description

Manuscript notebook of Dr Thomas Charles Hope recording medical case histories. The constellation of Dr Hope, Dr Duncan, and Dr Rutherford together with the mention of patients being admitted "into the Infirmary" lead to the ascription of this being notes from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The Dr Duncan mentioned several times in the text is presumably Andrew Duncan (1773-1832), who founded the hospital.

A handwritten abridged version of Thomas Craig's 'Jus feudale', translated into English. The manuscript volume is titled, 'A Compend of Craig De Feudis Done into English'. Attribution on page 368 reads: 'This compend of Craig De Feudis was written in November 1728 by Tho. Manson'.

Title page contains an inscription which reads: 'Belonging to Alexander Gibson 1732', and an inked stamp with a seal: 'Consilio et animis John Maitland'. Volume bound in leather.

Handwritten volume titled, 'Mrs Cumming of Logie, her religious experience'. A note in the front of the volume says that the locality of the writings seems to be in the vicinity of Inverness, Moray, Nairn, and Ross. It also notes that this volume is a transcription of the original papers. The inscription, 'John Grant, Dundurcas 1767' is written on the front end paper recto.
